ALTONE YOUTH SERVICES (AYS) is a Youth Centre located in Altone Park, Beechboro. *Formally known as Stand By Me Youth Service*

Drop-in is open for young people aged 11 to 18 at the times listed in the Programs Section. Come in and play Pool, Xbox, PS3, Wii, listen to music, grab a feed, talk to a youth worker or just hang out!  We also have online computers and a black light Cinema Room.

We offer informal counselling, practical support, advocacy, referal to additional services and case management to at risk Young People. We can provide information about a wide variety of issues relevant to young people’s lives.

Our aim is to provide a safe meeting place for young people, aged 11-25 years who reside, recreate or educate with the Lockridge/Beechboro and surround areas. We aim to provide young people with suitable educational and recreational activities that they otherwise would not have access to and that will provide them the opportunity to learn and develop a wide range of skills. We are open for drop-in sessions in the afternoons, during which time Young People are able to use our facilities and talk to the staff at the centre. We are also available for informal and formal counselling sessions with Young People and can refer those Young People to specialist services if the need arises can help young people that are experiencing a wide range of problems, including:

  • Homelessness
  • Alcohol and drug problems.
  • Employment and educational difficulties.
  • Mental, sexual and general health issues.
  • Financial problems.
  • Relationship conflict (family, friends and partners).

Anglicare WA – Children’s Contact Services

The Children’s Contact Service provides safe, secure and child focused environments in which children can continue to have a relationship with a parent or family member that they do not live with. We assist families with changeover and offer supervised visits. The Children’s Contact Service provide assistance with issues such as changeover services and assistance with supervised visits.

The service is designed to assist separated families who are concerned about the impact that ongoing arguments and stressful behaviours may be having on their children. In most circumstances families will use the Children’s Contact Service following the implementation of a Family Court Order or a Parenting Plan.

To arrange for either supervised visits or facilitated changeover both parents must phone their nearest service and organise an appointment. Both parents will be individually interviewed in order to complete an intake assessment form.

Anglicare WA – YES! Housing

YES! Housing (Youth Externally Supported Housing) helps young people aged 15 – 25yrs who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to access and maintain stable, longer term housing with added support to develop independent living and tenancy skills. YES! Housing is able to work with various family groups including singles, couples young parents and extended family to assist you to obtain your ideal housing option. When working with young parents, we can help to build on effective parenting strategies and link in with other parenting supports where suitable.

YES! Housing also offers transitional accommodation for young parents and couples for up to 12 months.  These units are located both north (Mount Lawley) and south (Rockingham and Spearwood) of the river and provide you with the opportunity to work on your goals in a supported environment whilst developing a rental history.

Anglicare WA Family Housing Program

The Family Housing Program is a transitional supported accommodation service that provides housing and support to families who wish to stabilise and actively engage in a support plan whilst being housed for up to twelve months. This service has accommodation throughout Perth Metropolitan area, with three and four bedroom homes close to schools, community facilities and public transport.

The program is for families who have two or more children under the age of 16 in their care and require supported medium-term housing. To meet the criteria for this program, families need to be on the Housing Authority waitlist and be eligible for the Bond Assistance Loan. Please note that this service operates a waitlist and during periods of high demand the waitlist may be closed to new applicants.

Making Ends Meet provides financial assistance, support and education to working families who are living in private rental accommodation and experiencing significant housing stress. This includes the payment of grants to help pay bills, negotiate repayment plans and give you the skills to manage your budget.

The program is designed to give families in crisis a foundation upon which to build a financially stable future.

Making Ends Meet is for people who are:

Child Protection Unit Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH)

The PCH Child Protection Unit (CPU) is a specialised, hospital-based service providing medical, forensic, social work and therapeutic services for children and their families when there is a concern that a child has, or may have suffered from child abuse. The PCH CPU is the only hospital-based service of this kind in WA.

Our staff coordinate assessment, planning and (when appropriate) intervention strategies and ongoing therapy for children and families where there are child protection concerns. This includes:

  • inpatient services in conjunction with inpatient unit staff
  • outpatient clinics, including after-hours services for acute sexual assault
  • therapy outpatient clinics.

Key roles of the CPU include:

  • medical and forensic examination, opinion formulation and report writing
  • diagnosis and treatment of injuries and infections
  • medical and forensic investigations, including blood tests and imaging
  • assessment of a child’s current and ongoing safety risk
  • psychosocial assessments

Crisis Care Helpline

The Department for Child Protection and Family Support’s after hours service, Crisis Care Unit, operates twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

This telephone service prioritises child protection concerns. It also provides information, advice, support and intervention for people in crises and needing urgent help. Types of crises addressed by the service include child protection concerns, family and domestic violence, suicidal ideation and homelessness.

Crisis Care Unit assists callers experiencing homelessness by providing information and advice. In exceptional and unforeseen circumstances, support is provided for callers to access short-term crisis accommodation.

Salvation Army – Bridge Program

The Salvation Army Bridge Program operates a sobering up centre and detoxification service in the inner-city.

The detoxification service provides a one week residential stay and operates to a supportive care model based on non-medical or low-medical interventions. Complex withdrawal cases, or those with severe symptoms are referred to medical services. Located in Gosnells, referral to the service needs to occur via admission to Bridge House in Highgate.

Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC)

The Sexual Assault Resource Centre (SARC) is the emergency sexual assault (rape crisis) service for Perth, Western Australia.

SARC is located in Perth, Western Australia, and provides high-quality care for females and males, 13 years and over, who have been affected by sexual assault (also called rape) or sexual abuse. SARC provides a 24-hour emergency sexual assault (rape crisis) service in metropolitan Perth. Suicide Call Back Service offers crisis support to anyone in Australia who is aged 15 years and older.

Victim Support and Child Witness Service

Provides free emotional support and practical preparation for children under 18 years of age who are to give evidence to a court. The children involved can be victims or witnesses to any criminal charge, in any court. This includes the Magistrates Court, Children’s Court, District Court or Supreme Court. The court process can add to the stress of a child victim. However, ensuring they are adequately prepared as a witness can reduce their emotional stress and enable them to better participate in court proceedings.

Recently merging with Anglicare WA; WA No Interest Loans Scheme (WA NILS) provides loans that are either ‘no interest’ or ‘low interest’ as well as affordable car and home contents insurance, and a matched savings scheme. Youth Street Van – Hope Community Services

The City of Armadale contracts Hope Community Services to visit a variety of places in the City of Armadale with their street van and provide youth outreach weekly to youths aged 12 to 25 years old.

You’ll find the Hope team and their van in a variety of public spaces across the City from Cross Park skatepark, Roleystone, Jull St Mall in Armadale to local parks, the train station and other.

The street van, and its fantastic team, brings music, games, and fun to the streets, and is also there to offer connection, assistance and a safe place to chat for young people aged eight to 24 years who are vulnerable,disadvantaged and/or marginalised through providing information, informal counselling, referrals and connection to the great range of community organisations or activities in the local area.
